Activating the Promise of a Thousand Times Blessings through Faith

August 8, 2019

Faith provokes God to release these blessings of a thousand times. Matthew 8:5-13 tells the story of the centurion who came to Jesus because his servant was sick of palsy and grievously tormented. Jesus, who is always eager to meet everyone at the level of his or her faith said, I will come and heal him (that is, he would come and minister to the man’s servant in his house). But the centurion replied, expressing a level of understanding and faith that would not have come from any believer then, that healing his servant did not require Jesus to come to his house. All Jesus needed to do was give the instruction with authority, and all the powers that can affect the life of man on earth and in Heaven will obey Him. He said:

For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it. When Jesus heard it, he marveled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel. [Matthew 8:10]

When Jesus heard this man’s comment, He was surprised! This man was a foreigner, someone who was not a Jew, who was not part of his disciples or a citizen of the nation He was preaching the Kingdom of God to. Yet he believed in Him, and in the power of His authority, in so much that he boldly declared to Jesus not to bother to come to his house. He said this because he believed that whenever Jesus speaks, it will be effective anywhere and anytime. What a faith! Jesus saw that the man understood what is called faith.

Faith is when you believe in the existence of a superior authority; a mighty power that can change anything around; a Sovereign being, in whom nothing shall be impossible, and then consciously, boldly with unwavering determination, putting that belief into action.
Faith also believes the word of God, that what God says He will do, He will surely do. This is exemplified by Abraham, whom the Bible says was fully persuaded that God is able to perform what He has promised.

And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform. [Romans 4:21]
When others are saying there are giants in the land, their defense is too much for us; you should be saying, God is always on our side, we are able to possess the land. When others are in dismay saying we cannot cross the Red Sea, you should be saying with God nothing shall be impossible. Faith is very important.
But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. [Hebrews 11:6]

There is the story of a woman who had voluntarily suggested, out of human compassion, to her sibling that she would not mind being a surrogate mother for her child: the sister was then barren. The sister replied, “I understand your compassion, but I have an assurance that the God I serve will not put me to shame. I am going to be pregnant, and I will have my own baby.” The woman backed down, and accepted her sister’s choice. The miracle took nine years of waiting and holding on to God and His Word, with a faith that would not shake.

In the ninth year of her waiting, she began to feel sick and strange all over for days. She thought she might be pregnant, but she was not too sure, and was careful not to be too excited yet. She then called her sister, describing the feelings to her in a bid to find out if the symptoms she was feeling were that of a pregnant woman, as she had never been pregnant before. She told her sister she suspected that she was pregnant but was not sure and did not want to become too excited, only to be disappointed later. The sister advised her to do a pregnancy test and she did. The result was positive, confirming that she was indeed pregnant.

She gave birth to her promised child: she received as she had believed. According to her faith, she was blessed.
