Receiving And Following Divine Leading:To the spiritually unenlightened individual, the proclamation of the appearance of Jesus Christ, is a farce or at best, a figment of the imagination of the minds of some religious bigots. The truth is, Jesus is coming back very soon. To this end, we shall continue to explore the secrets of the huge success of the Apostles of old. Therefore, in this edition, we want to meditate on, receiving and following divine leading; which is another significant secret of the success of the Apostles as documented in Acts 8:26-30; 35-38.
And the angel of the Lord spake unto Philip, saying, Arise, and go toward the south unto the way that goeth down from Jerusalem unto Gaza, which is desert. And he arose and went: and, behold, a man of Ethiopia, an eunuch of great authority under Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all her treasure, and had come to Jerusalem for to worship, was returning, and sitting in his chariot read Esaias the prophet. Then the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join thyself to this chariot. And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, understandest thou what thou readest?
Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus. And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, see, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.
A look through the book of the Acts of the Apostles show several of such instances, as above, when the disciples were supernaturally instructed of God to take steps that led to the broadening of the frontiers of the kingdom. The story in the above quoted scripture is about how an important personality from Africa got born again after Pentecost. Similar events also took place in Acts 9:10-12; 10:9-15 in respect of the conversion of Saul of Tarsus and Cornelius respectively.
Great things happened cheaply each time the apostles received and followed divine leading. Brethren, I am equally firmly convinced that hearing ears and seeing eyes remain one of the greatest tools of evangelism. Where efforts, as is the case these days, at expanding the kingdom of God is majorly traditional and routine, great efforts may only result in so much noise with little outcome.
In the light of the reality of our days, I believe, soldiers of the Cross ought to be more strategic now than before. We need more of those accurate and direct leadings of the Holy Ghost, I mean, the type an unbeliever cannot deny because of its accuracy and precision as it applies to their peculiar situations. In pursuance of this, I believe we should crave for more of access to the secrets of the Lord as we tremble at His presence the more. (Psalm 25:14).
We should rather follow this ancient land mark in addition to the various methods we had deployed so far in reaching out to souls. This is more so because we will not be able to successfully carry out spiritual assignments with physical tools. It takes spirits to answer to spirit. Brethren, as we depend more on God for this glorious assignment, I pray that the Lord will grant His church the necessary speed in reaching the world with the gospel in Jesus name.
Happy New Year of, The Great Turn Around. Until the next edition if Jesus tarries, keep hearing and winning for the Lord.
