And when they found them not, they drew Jason and certain brethren unto the rulers of the city, crying, these that have turned the world upside down are come hither also. (Acts 17:6)
What you are about to read is a seed, meant to germinate by the way of provoking, arousing and motivating you to take action on the side of our Lord, Jesus Christ. For the avoidance of doubt, it is not an epistle for bread, butter or noodle Christians, but for diligent and indomitable soldiers of Christ. Are you one of us? If yes, congratulations. Please, come along with me meditatively and prayerfully.
Though a herculean task, God empowered Elijah to blaze the trail when he singlehandedly challenged King Ahab and his notorious wife, Jezebel, over the worship of Baal in Israel. Elijah prayed, fire fell and satanic altars and strongholds collapsed like pack of cards. At another time, this same Elijah issued a decree that held up rain from falling for years. Furthermore, Elijah used his mantle to divide river Jordan (1Kings 17:1, 18:21-40; 2Kings 2:8).
Fellow Christian soldiers, where are the fire prayers and decrees today? Are there still Mantles today? If yes, how powerful and useful? As Gideon aptly noted in Judges 6:13, where be all the miracles of old? “Who is he” and who are they that saith that massive and aggressive Evangelism, Church Growth and Church Planting should be abated, “when the Lord commandeth it not?” (Lamentations 3:37)
By way of encouragement, consider this testimony of Evangelical miracle that confirms the validity of the infallible words of Jesus Christ in Mark 16:17-18. It goes thus: John Jilecks, a man of God, evangelized in South Africa at a time of the outbreak of bubonic disease. It was a disastrous and catastrophic period. Germs of the disease killed many people who touched those afflicted.
However, John Jilecks, filled with the Holy Ghost Power and Fire, preached to several thousands and laid hands on the sick. The germs that touched his body died instantly. That is, what killed others couldn’t kill him. Remember, Daniel came out alive from the Lion’s den (Daniel 6). Also, Meshach, Shadrach and Abednego survived the burning fiery furnace (Daniel 3)
No matter the odds and challenges that come your way in the course of Evangelism, Church Growth and Church Planting, you shall surely overcome in Jesus name.
As Christ’s ambassadors who must not receive the grace of God in vain (2 Corinthians 5:20, 6:1), it is time to wake up. Every Christian should invite and establish at least one unbeliever every month. All disciples of Jesus should go out every last Saturday of each month to win souls. This is not the time for excuses. Let us heed the timely warning of Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye that the enemy does not want the kingdom of God established in our nation. Therefore, take evangelism seriously because the soul of Nigeria is at stake. Therefore, we must work harder on soul-winning (Nov. 2, 2016). He warned that “we are behind schedule, therefore, there is need to multiply four times so as to catch up with the lost time” (Aug. 31, 2017).
It is instructive to admonish, that fruit of evangelism (that is, converts/newcomers) be followed up and retained especially through the instrumentality of prayer. Also, the quality of our services especially on Sundays must be rebranded and improved. Remember, the Pentecostal power is still the same today.
