Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee. For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee. And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising. Isaiah 60:1-3

Isaiah 60: 1-3

Swimming in glory is two words; glory and swimming. Swimming means you are making progress inside water. God did not create man for water. He created man for land. He created the sky for the birds and the rivers for fish. So when you go to swim, you are going to an area that God did not initially create for you but you can make progress in a realm that is not yours if you know what to do.

Glory, according to Proverbs 3:35, is the opposite of shame. Glory is intrinsically associated with bright light. In Luke 2: 9, the Bible says on the day Jesus Christ was born: Lo the angel of the Lord came upon them and the glory of the Lord shone around them.

In Psalm 24:7-10, the Almighty God is called the King of glory and in James 1: 17, He is called the Father of lights. The reason He is called the King of glory is because, He is the Father of lights. In Ezekiel 43:2, the Bible says: The glory of the God of Israel came from the East and the earth shined with his glory. The East is where the Sun rises. In Revelation 21: 10-23, the Bible tells us that the heavenly Jerusalem has the glory of God so it doesn’t need the sun or the moon to give it light.

In the text we read, light and glory is the same thing. Consequently, in Matthew 5:14-16, Jesus gave you a new name, “You are the light of the world.” He went on to say, “Let your light shine.” The link between glory and light is just absolute and complete. Light is useless unless it shines. Matthew 5:15 says you are not supposed to hide light. You are to put it on the candlestick to show the way to the people.

The opposite of light is darkness. To shine means to push back darkness by force. Genesis 1:1-4 says: In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth, and the earth was without form and void and darkness was upon the face of the deep… and the Spirit of God moved and God said let there be light… From the beginning, the battle between light and darkness has been there. In other words, shining automatically means confrontation with darkness. To get ready to shine means to get ready to fight darkness. You have played church enough. The battle line is drawn. Light and darkness are going to collide. As the light of the world, get ready to fight darkness. Our text says, because there will be gross darkness, get ready to deal with gross darkness. When you do that, the unbelievers will come.

Many of us have tried to win souls by mere talk. They will come when they see how well you can deal with darkness they will be transformed. Light has no use unless it shines. Nobody wants to switch on the light during daytime but when darkness comes, you bring in light. Consider David in 1 Samuel 16: 11-13, he was brought from the field and oil, was poured on his head. They rejoiced and said you are now the king and he rejoiced. It wasn’t long after that in 1 Samuel 17: 34- 37, that lions and bears began to come and Goliath began to appear. In 1 Samuel 22: 1-2, when they saw the light of David shining and he was in the cave of Adullam, everybody who needed help came to him.

Shining means you are going to fight darkness. If you want to swim in glory, you will fight lions, bears, and Goliath. The beautiful thing is the fight we are going to fight is a good fight because you have won before the fight began. 1 Timothy 6: 12 says: fight the good fight of faith. In 2 Timothy 4: 7, Paul said, I have fought a good fight. A good fight is a fight you win. The fight is loaded in your favour because light has never lost to darkness.

The Bible in John 1: 4-5 says: In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. This passage talks about Jesus Christ. You are going to fight and you are going to win. Romans 8:35-39 made it clear that you are already more than a Conqueror. The only condition to winning is that you must not turn your back on the enemy. Never turn your back again on the enemy. In Luke 6: 62, Jesus Christ made it clear that anyone who laid his hand on the plough and looks back is not fit for the kingdom.

By the grace of the God that I serve, before the end of this year, one of your prayers will be, “God send the lions. Send the bears. Wherever Goliath is hiding, bring him out.” One of my friends who is now an elder took up this challenge when he was younger. He used to pray in the morning that God should bring all the sick people that the doctor said cannot be healed to him for prayers so that signs and wonders can follow.
Swimming means operating successfully in a realm that is not naturally yours. Land is for man, sky for birds and river is for the fish but when you are a swimmer, it means you can succeed in the realm that is not yours. In 1 Samuel 17:33- 37, when David went to King Saul and said, “Don’t let anybody be afraid of this giant I will go and fight him,” the King said, “Little boy, this is not your realm. You are a little boy and Goliath is a warrior and has been from birth. Warfare is the realm of Goliath. You little boy you better go and hide under your mother’s cover cloth.” David said, “Sorry sir, you don’t really know who you are talking to.’’

To swim involves skill. If you just jump into the river and you don’t know how to swim, you will drown. To learn the skill of swimming, you need help. Zechariah 4:6 says: Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts. If you get into the river and you want to swim, it is not just splashing water around. You must know how to move your hand and feet. You have to synchronize everything. There is someone who is ready to teach you to swim and His name is Jesus.

Philippians 4:13 says, I can do all things through Christ who strengtheneth me. I can operate in realms that are not mine. I have heard testimonies that made me jump for joy from ordinary members of the congregation being used by God to perform mighty miracles, operate in the realms well above their age. As the Lord lives, before the end of this year, when they say there is a crisis, you won’t say, “Send for the G.O.” You will say, “Bring the fellow, bring the dead, blind, deaf, dumb and lame.”

You are going to need Jesus like never before this year. In 1 Thessalonians 5: 17-19, the Bible makes it clear that you must pray without ceasing. You must not quench the spirit. This year is a year of the Holy Spirit. You must move in the Holy Spirit.

This year is the year of fasting. In Matthew 17:14 – 21, Jesus told His disciples that there are some demons that can only move when you confront them with fasting and prayer. 2 Corinthians 11: 27 says: In fasting often. Several years ago, in the 1980s, I lay in front of my first office because I’ve been fasting for more than 30 days and 30 nights without food so I was very weak. As I lay on my mat, a friend came to visit me. He saw the first auditorium and said, “What else do you want? You already have the biggest auditorium in Africa and you are still fasting.” I laughed and said, “I have not started my journey.” I decree to you today: In the Name that is above every other name, where you never thought you can ever get to; you will surpass it this year.

When you want to swim, the first thing you do is you change your dress. If you have arrived at the river, a lake or wherever you want to swim, the first thing is for you to take off your dress. You don’t swim with your suit on. Hebrews 12:1 says, “Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us.” You don’t swim with shoes on. You have to get rid of certain things if you want to swim. Romans 13: 12 says: The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. Ephesians 4:22 says: That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts.

If you want to swim, changes must come. Colossians 3:8-9 says: But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth. Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds. If you want to confront darkness and cast out demons, immoral jokes must not even be heard from you again.

After you have removed your jacket, shirt, shoes then you wear your swimming suit. Ephesians 4: 24-25 says: And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another. Ephesians 6:11-18 says: Put on the whole armour of God that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints. No more running from the enemy. We are ready to face them because we are the light of the world and the light shines in darkness and darkness cannot overcome it.
Satan is the one who is on the losing end. Jesus Christ said, “I will build My church and the gates of hell shall not prevail.” Because Jesus is not a liar, if He says, “I would do something” He will do it. Gate stands for elders. The elders of hell, witches, wizards, herbalists etc cannot prevail against the church. The trouble with the children of God is that up to this moment all you have been doing is playing church “Jesus give me food. Jesus give me clothes.” He wants warriors and you’re going to be one of them. You are the light of the world.

During the Let’s-Go-A-Fishing in 2018, I was in a particular town. When we wanted to start the church, we sent a small boy who is a Deacon to start. The place he could find accommodation was next to the house of an herbalist. Soon the herbalist discovered that those who were coming to him before were now going to this small boy. He decided to deal with this boy. When the boy went to church one day, he locked his doors and windows but when he came back, he saw a hen sitting over eggs inside his one-bedroom apartment. He wondered where the hen and eggs came from.

However, if you bend down to pick such hen, your back will break. But the young man looked at the hen and eggs and said, “Thank you Lord for provision. You know I don’t have money to buy hen and eggs. Hen, welcome to my cooking pot! He killed the hen, boiled the eggs and ate. The herbalist expected a cry of pain as he believed that by the following morning, his corpse would be carried out of his room but he saw the fellow the following morning going to church and the boy greeted him, “Papa good morning” and the herbalist surrendered his life to Jesus .

If you have not surrendered your life to Jesus, do so now because tomorrow may be too late.

He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; to him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving him that receiveth it. Revelations 2:17.

Do you know that when you say you are praising God and you lift your hands to the Almighty, what you are actually saying is, “I surrender.” One thing I learnt when I was a Boxer is that when two boxers are fighting and one realizes that if this fight continues he may die, he will lift up his two hands saying, I surrender. The moment he lifts his two hands, there is a law that the opponent must not hit him again – not even a single blow.

He is unlimited in power He is the omnipotent God. Psalm 62:11 says, God has spoken once, twice have I heard this that power belongs to God. Next time somebody tells you that you cannot make progress, that you will not be promoted, that you will not have a child, that you will die sick, that you will die poor, turn to the person and say, “Power belongs to my God.”
