The initiator, Pastor Antoinette Omo-Osagie, Principal of Christ The Redeemer’s College, Christhill, Sagamu and an educator with over 30 years work experience said, ‘’The idea of School In The Air came to be when Daddy Lawal called and asked what we were doing for our children in CRSM schools. Prior to that call, there was no coordinated effort as various schools were doing something for themselves.’’
That singular call got Pastor Omo-Osagie thinking on how CRSM could reach out to schools in as diverse an environment as Koma hills to the far North of the nation. School in the Air was conceived and born, to meet the urgent needs of the COVID-19 season.
School in the Air is strategically organized for CRSM students in over 40 secondary schools across the nation. According to Pastor Omo-Osagie, since it is aired on Dove TV, it is certain that many more students of that age group (11-17) would avail themselves of the opportunity, particularly because Dove is on the free to air decoder.
To ensure widespread awareness, the Mother in Israel, Pastor (Mrs.) Folu Adeboye, learnt her voice and person to the project and the students’ responses has been encouraging because most are using the given portals to respond and send in their comments.
With the lockdown in place, teachers of Redeemer’s High School, who live in Redemption Camp, teach the students on air. Pastor Omo-Osagie gave kudos to the Principal of RHS, Pastor A. O. Adelugba and his Vice, Pastor Oladele-Onitiju, for being helpful in getting the teachers.
CRSM is the arm of the mission that caters for children’s education in formal schools. The CRSM has over 300 Nursery, Primary, and Secondary schools across the country. All these schools are as diverse as our nation’s people.
CRSM also serves as a Quality Control and Standards body for all the schools. Trainings are run for teachers and heads of schools, Board of Governors etc. The Planning and execution of the Redeemer’s Day both Regional and National is another key activity of the CRSM.
