The 67th Annual Convention of the Redeemed Christian Church of God which took place from Monday August 5 to Sunday August 11 2019, was not just a confirmation of the hand of God upon the Church but also a clear testimony to the Convention theme, “And God Said”.
Months earlier, the General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, had said that God assured him that the Convention
was going to be the best we have ever had. All that happened at the 7-day event, the overflowing attendance at both the old and new auditoria, the vehicular and human traffic control, the feeding of the thousands of thousands of people for days, the diverse working of God through massive salvation, healings, deliverance and diverse miracles proved that once God says a thing, it is established.
The Convention was preceded by a 4-day Ministers Conference which was a kind of an annual general meeting of the Pastors and Leaders of the Church at all levels. The Conference teachings were built around the story of Jonah. Like the General Overseer said, it was noteworthy that God chose Jonah for the conference suggesting that God may be warning the ministers against falling asleep on duty. Reports came from the various regions, awards were given for long service while those due for retirement were rewarded with parting gifts.
During the Convention, the Governing Council of the Church approved some structural changes leading to the creation of a new Region, the appointment of new Special Assistants to the General Overseer, creation of 17 new Provinces and the appointment of their helmsmen, extension of Pastors’ retirement age from 70 years subject to good health and medical certification. These and many more highlights of the Convention are featured in
this edition of your magazine.
