Peter took him by the right hand
And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength. Acts 3:7.
Action speaks louder than thought and voice. Some people only stop at thinking. They do not speak out. Peter and John did not only think that the lame man could have something better. They spoke out by faith in the name of Jesus. And then Peter followed it up by action. He took the lame man by his right hand and pulled him to his feet!
Nothing moves if it is not pushed or pulled. There must be an applied force, whether human, natural or spiritual. For example, car in the garage will remain on the same spot for ever if nothing is done to move it out of the spot it is parked. A table in the office will only move by the application of force. The law of motion is action. Isaac Newton explains this in his first law of motion: Everybody continues in its state of rest or uniform motion in a straight line unless compelled by an external force to act otherwise.
Nothing changes until someone changes it. You are the force of change. Do you want to get out of your unpleasant condition? Do you want to overcome your limitations? Spring into action. Step out to create that change. Your lofty dream will remain in a state of inertia until an external force compels it into action and fulfillment. You are that external force.
You can think like a think-tank but translate it into action. You can speak like a radio but if you fail to act the scripts, nothing will happen. There will be no meaningful progress. There are excellent dreamers and teachers who are poor executors. They can say it all but never lift up a finger to do it. Peter did not just say it, he acted. The lame man did not just hear it; he acted too by jumping on his feet! Take action out of your physical, emotional, financial, spiritual, relationship wheel chair!
The ball is in your court. It is up to you to speak out and pull up like Peter or jump up like the lame man. There’s nothing impossible with God. Put your faith into action right now. Get up and walk. Walk out of your unpleasant condition and limitations. Build your castle in the air but transmute it into reality by action.
Get out of inertia. Break the jinx. Get out of the boat of fear. The eleven disciples sat in the boat, only Peter jumped out to walk on the sea. Get out of procrastination. Tomorrow never comes. Act now! Get out of indecision. Time and tide wait for no man.
He shall be like a tree that is planted by the rivers of waters, his leaves also shall not wither, and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. Psalm 1:3. Whatsoever he doeth shall prosper! God is committed to prosper doers and not merely thinkers or wishers. He will prosper the doers, not those who merely speak. He will prosper those who translate their thoughts, wishes and words into action. To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven. Eccl.3:1.
There is time to fast and pray. And there is time for action. If you have fasted and prayed, good! Start doing something. God does not bless ‘nothing.’ He blesses something. There is something better for you!
The lame man at the gate of the temple was like a wheelbarrow. He was pushed forth and back every day. Don’t be like a wheelbarrow. Push things, don’t be pushed around. Call the shots. Take initiative. Take a step forward. Act forward. Crave for something better. There are three things you must do to help you take action that is commensurate with your situation.
1. Trust in the Lord with all your heart
2. Cast out the spirit of fear
3. Have a present tense faith
